For over 26 years, the stewardship of San Francisco Bay’s water quality has been supported by a world class Regional Monitoring Program (RMP) managed by SFEI. Each year, SFEI issues a report to update scientists and the public on our progress.  The 2018 edition of the RMP Update provides a concise overview of recent water quality activities and findings, and a look ahead to significant products anticipated in the next two years. The report coincided with October’s RMP Annual Meeting.Topics discussed included selenium monitoring in the North Bay, dioxins, water quality monitoring related to the North Bay fires, the new  water quality goals for Suisun Marsh, harmful algae, and pharmaceuticals in wastewater.
Every even year, the Regional Monitoring Program for Water Quality in San Francisco Bay (RMP) publishes the RMP Update. This update provides a concise overview of recent RMP activities and findings, and a look ahead to significant products anticipated in the next two years.
The report includes:
•        a brief summary of some of the most noteworthy findings of this multifaceted Program;
•        a description of the management context that guides the RMP; and
•        a summary of progress made to date and future plans for addressing priority water quality topics.

In tandem with the RMP Update, the goal of this year’s RMP Annual Meeting on October 11 was to provide a general update on progress made and future directions.  Phil Trowbridge, the RMP manager, presented an overview of Program activities. Other topics discussed included selenium monitoring in the North Bay, dioxins, water quality monitoring related to the North Bay fires, the new TMDL for Suisun Marsh, harmful algae, and pharmaceuticals in wastewater.
