SFEI's and SPUR's Adaptation Atlas shared by multiple media outlets

The newly released Adaptation Atlas (adaptationatlas.sfei.org) has been making waves on several significant media outlets, including the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Jose Mercury News, Politico, ABC 7 News, East Bay Times, and the Marin Independent Journal.
We welcome you to learn more about the adaptation strategies that might be best suited to your own "natural jurisdiction."
The substantial, 255-page document is based on physical and social scientific fundamentals. Co-led by Julie Beagle of SFEI and Laura Tam of SPUR, the team sought to examine strategies for ecological and social resilience. The report contends that a scientific framework is necessary to optimize efforts for sea-level rise adaptation, just as the need for this work becomes increasingly urgent. Yet, shoreline adaptation is not a one-size-fits-all proposition. Rather, different projects, initiatives, and programs will work best when tailored to the diverse environmental units that characterize the Bay Area. The Adaptation Atlas describes these different strategies.

The San Francisco Estuary Institute (SFEI) is excited to announce Laura Feinstein as the new Director of the Resilient Landscapes Program. Laura brings many years of experience at the science-policy interface and a love for the natural and urban communities of the San Francisco Bay Area and Delta region. As Director, she will lead SFEI’s interdisciplinary Resilient Landscapes team of 30+ staff with an annual budget of over $5 million.
