Matt is a hydrologist with over 20 years experience in water science, management, planning, and policy. He has degrees in environmental engineering from Cornell (BS) and Tufts (MS), and a PhD in remote sensing and hydrology from Sorbonne University in Paris, France. After college, Matt worked as a water and sanitation educator with the US Peace Corps in Mali, West Africa. Since then, he has stayed involved with various nonprofits working on health and education in Mali.

The Delta is at the heart of California’s divisive water politics—it is the source of drinking water for 25 million people, supplies irrigation water to millions of acres of rich farmland, and is also the home for threatened and endangered species.
